Inventing the first T cell immunotherapy for Long COVID.

TechImmune, Inc. was founded in 2021 around the T cell technology platform exclusively licensed from the University of California, Irvine, with the mission to develop novel strategies against coronaviruses to protect the public and economic health of individuals and societies globally.

Our approach is uniquely designed to target the root cause of disease by restoring functional anti-viral immunity, with the potential to deliver the first approved therapeutic intervention for Long COVID.

Frequently Asked

Questions about our science and mission.

What is TechImmune developing?

TechImmune is developing a first-in-class T cell-based immunotherapy that targets the root cause of Long COVID by clearing persistent SARS-CoV-2 reservoirs and restoring functional anti-viral immunity, with the potential to deliver the first disease-modifying treatment for Long COVID.

How is TechImmune's approach different from vaccines and existing antivirals?

Unlike acute COVID-19 infections, Long COVID cannot be fully addressed with current vaccines or existing antiviral therapies, which do not clear persistent SARS-CoV-2 reservoirs or restore functional T cell immunity. TechImmune's immunotherapy focuses on conserved non-spike viral antigens, boosting protective T cell responses to clear those reservoirs and address the underlying cause rather than just the symptoms.

Where did TechImmune's technology come from?

TechImmune was founded in 2021 around a T cell technology platform exclusively licensed from the University of California, Irvine, where it was invented by Professor Lbachir BenMohamed, PhD. The company holds an exclusive license agreement that includes patents in the United States.

How large is the Long COVID patient population?

An estimated 400 million people are affected by Long COVID globally, with roughly 7 percent of the U.S. population living with persistent symptoms. In the U.S. alone, 10 to 20 million people are affected, with 3 to 3.5 million projected to seek treatment for moderate to severe disease.

What stage is TechImmune's program at?

TechImmune is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company advancing its lead Long COVID immunotherapy, TI-101, through IND-enabling studies toward an IND filing in the first quarter of 2027. The company is also developing TI-100, a broad spectrum coronavirus vaccine supported by an NIH/NIAID SBIR grant.
